Recallio v2.10 - What's New

v2.10 focuses on the bookmarklet - the tool that lets you save bookmarks from any browser or device without installing an extension. This release makes it smarter, cleaner, and easier to set up on mobile.

Duplicate detection

The save popup now checks if you have already saved the URL you are on. If it finds a match, an amber warning banner appears at the top of the form. You can still save - it is just a heads-up, not a block.

Read Later sync

The Read Later checkbox and the collection picker are now linked. Checking Read Later automatically switches the picker to the Read Later collection. Picking Read Later in the dropdown automatically checks the box. They stay in sync in both directions.

Branding in the popup

The save popup now shows the Recallio logo and a "Save to Recallio" heading at the top. This makes it clearer what you are looking at, especially if you open it in a new tab rather than a popup window.

Better success state

After saving, the popup calls window.close() to shut itself automatically. If the tab stays open - some browsers block this - you now see "Bookmark saved! You can close this tab." instead of a blank or stuck state.

Sign-in hint

A note at the bottom of the save form explains what happens if you are not logged in: click the link to sign in, and Recallio will bring you straight back to the save form with the URL already filled in.

Mobile bookmarklet setup

Setting up the bookmarklet on mobile used to require figuring out the steps yourself. The Settings page now includes a four-step guide:

1. Tap Copy code to copy the bookmarklet to your clipboard
2. Bookmark any page in your mobile browser
3. Edit that bookmark and paste the copied code as the URL
4. Give it a name like "Save to Recallio"

There is also a new Copy code button next to the draggable bookmarklet, which copies the raw javascript: href to the clipboard - handy on both mobile and desktop.

Login redirect callout

The bookmarklet card in Settings now includes a note explaining that if you are not logged in when you use the bookmarklet, Recallio will send you to the login page and bring you back to the save form automatically once you sign in.
